What is a Dichroic lamp?
Choosing the right halogen dichroic lamp for your application, you must consider what lamp life you require (this is especially important when installing in hard to access places) and the beam spread you desire.
For general and task lighting, the wide beam spread offered by FNV (60° beam) dichroic lamps are ideal, whereas the narrower beam spread of EXN (40° beam) lamps are suited to accent lighting, for example when you wish to highlight a special painting or ornament.
Types of Dichroic Lamps
GU10 240v Halogen Lamps
GU10 halogen lamps operate on mains voltage and comprise a quartz halogen burner positioned in an aluminium coated reflector, providing similar (but not quite as sharp or bright) output to MR16 lamps without the need for a transformer. They come in a range of outputs including 50w standard life, 50w long life and 35w standard life.
G9 240v Halogen Lamps
G9 240v halogen lamps provide the bright light of standard halogen lamps without the need for a transformer. Using krypton gas, these lamps give a higher light output with a more stable lamp life.
They are available in a range of versions including 25w, 40w, 60w and 75w and are also dimmable. They are double fused for safety and comply with the EN60598 standard for use with glass fronted fixtures.
